featsdontfailmenow - what kind of mileage are you up to now?

It’s wild, surface is everything. Grass, no problem. Smooth asphalt, no problem. A little washed out of the blacktop and it’s painful.

O'Bummer says we all need to run barefoot at least one day a week because 3rd world runners can't afford to buy new shoes even with their Strider discount!!!!!!

2-3 miles 2-3 times a week....calfs less sore.
Asphalt before dawn only.
Too bad a golf course is not nearby.

Yup...so you're running 4-9 miles a week. Nice. Keep it up.

Trent, you may need to add a barefoot division as I plan to sign up too for my first Monkey (and I only run barefoot). I'd love to run a race with a few other barefooters.

Andrew, it's easy to make generalizations like ...barefoot runners are lame, or ...tattooed people are thugs.

Personally, loosing the shoes has changed the way I run. It has also given me relief from years of chronic achilles tendonitis. The transition was slow and challenging, but running without shoes is fun. The only "cause" that I run for is to get my fat a** lighter.

This will be my first official barefoot marathon (assuming I can get in), even though I ran CMM barefoot, but I was one of the unfortunate slow runners to be cut-off at mile 22. My tootsies were getting a bit tender near the end, but it was managable and I was back on the roads in a few days.

The Bilbrey,

That should improve my traction going up the hill,
